A Castle By The Sea | Bridal Editorial at Caerhays Castle
If you've been on any of my social media platforms today, you're probably already sick of hearing me talk about these images shot at Caerhays Castle... but guess what?! I'm going to talk about them again, because I am SO excited to finally be able to share these images, and give you the background story behind them.
As you know, a few months ago I discovered bridal editorial photography. I'm not sure how I had missed it for so many years, but suddenly I was immersed in a world that I KNEW I wanted to be involved in. I've been a lover of beautiful, pretty images forever. Give me softness, give me flowers, give me long flowing dresses, and I'll be the happiest photographer alive. Is it cheesy? Yes, it can be. Is it overdone? Yes, it can be. Is it hard to do well? Yes, it is. Am I doing it well? Who knows. All I know, is that I am SO in love with these shots!
Ione and I had been working together for a couple of months when she suggested we see if she could get us access to Caerhays Castle for a shoot. I'd never heard of it before, but seeing as it contained the word "castle" in it's name, my ears were pricked up and ready. I googled it, and knew we had to find a way to make it work. It was May, so the flowers were out in full force. Spring was really kicking in, the days were getting warmer, and I was super excited. After a few phone calls, we were in. We headed down for a location scout, and I became more and more excited about our imminent shoot. I emailed and phoned around wherever I could to get the necessaries: dresses, flowers, jewellery. And pretty quickly, we were ready.
Lucy Frost, the model of this shoot, is someone who I'd worked with a few weeks prior to this, and I knew she'd be perfect. We arrived on the day, Loulabel bringing with her her incredible bouquets. I had been to collect jewellery from Tegen, as well as the dresses from Ailsa. We were ready to go!
We shot all day long, making the most of the incredible gardens surrounding the castle, the castle itself, and the coastguard hut only a short distance away. Caerhays Castle is an actual wedding venue, so if you wanted to, you could get married here FOR REAL. It has the most beautiful views of the sea, and if you're having a very intimate ceremony, the coastguard hut is licensed for weddings.
Anyway, I was absolutely astounded when I submitted these images to Rock My Wedding (The UK's biggest wedding blog!) and they agreed to publish them. I never would have thought such a big blog would feature me, but they have, and I can't thank them enough. This morning has felt like a bit of a dream!
