The Wanderer | Tom Lane Lookbook
I can't even begin to explain how much I love these images. In case you missed last weeks post where I shared the studio images I shot for Tom Lane, here's the direct link to that post. This shoot was the first time in a very long time that I felt comfortable, happy and extremely excited about the work we were producing. Part of that was very much to do with the fact that I was surrounded by a team of people I adored and worked with perfectly. The weather certainly played a massive role in it as well.
Cornwall can be very windy. And when it's windy, it's bitterly cold. Jayne and I had been planning this shoot since November 2015. I knew that setting the date for the 5th of March would be a massive gamble. You just can't know what the weather will do. Lucky for us, the weather was very much on our side. Although it was an incredibly windy day, I'd planned to shoot the location portion of the day on a local beach, Durgan. Durgan is a beautiful, secluded little beach about 15 minutes away from Falmouth. On the Helford river, it looks almost tropical. If the wind is coming from the South, you'll be battered by freezing cold gusts and probably sea spray. However, on this particular day, it was a Northerly wind. A cold wind if you're not sheltered. But Durgan, on this day, was. In fact, it was so sheltered that we spent the afternoon in nothing but our sweaters, enjoying the sun and what felt like 20°C heat. Bliss! And the perfect scenario for a photoshoot.
Time has flown by since these were shot already, and I forgot how long it takes to edit images! We were going for quite an exploration-y vibe, and I think we got it. The location was everything here, and because we were forced to shoot in the middle of the day, looking for any shade we could find was essential. But I really am so pleased with these images. It's brought back a confidence in my work that has been creeping it's way back into my life. I'm finding myself wanting nothing more than to create, create, create. It's a wonderful feeling! My next big shoot is already in preparation, and although it will be a totally different concept, team and vibe, I'm brimming with excitement!
