The People Who Have Inspired Me Throughout 2017
What an incredible year it has been... and I can't quite believe it's over already! I truly believe that when they say time flies when you're having fun, that statement couldn't be more true. So actually, I embrace time flying - cause it just means that I'm having fun.
Along the way this year, there have been a few people who have really inspired me, and I've probably mentioned them before in various places, but I thought it was right to pay tribute to them all in one big blog post, and share them with you too! These are all people who I'm so thankful share so much of what they do with the world, and have inspired me over and over again!
Jamie Beck run's Ann Street Studio, a digital creative agency, is very famous for inventing the cinemagraph, and is also an incredible photographer. She is probably the photographer I'm finding the most inspiring at the moment. Originally living in New York, Jamie moved to Provence in France a year and a half ago to fulfill a lifelong dream. She documents her life and creative endeavours on her Instagram. She's incredible, not only because of the beautiful work she creates, but also because of how much she shares with her followers. I can't recommend her enough, to photographers, or anyone who just wants to feel inspired!
Most of you will know Anna quite well by now. She regularly appears on my blog, my Instagram, and everywhere else. She's become one of my greatest friends, and I can't imagine life without her anymore! Anna went through quite a crazy year of change, and has remained so strong throughout it all. She's also one of the most incredible business ladies I know... and is only 23 years old! If you love Cornwall, you need to read her blog, The Cornish Life, or if you need a new website designed, Anna is your girl, with her business, ByRosanna.
I discovered Tania this year on Instagram, whilst on one of those discovery sessions. You know the one, when you're clicking around and seem to be discovering amazing new accounts left, right and centre. Yep, that one. And I knew immediately that I needed this girl in my life! She's beautiful, takes incredible photographs, is super clever, and all around lovely. We chatted for a couple of months on the app (discovering how similar we both were), and eventually met for the first time a few weeks ago in London. You can read about that day here, and follow Tania on her Instagram or blog!
Freya describes herself as a travelling editorial documentary photographer. I fell on a Youtube video she recorded a couple of months ago, talking about her work, and was completely in awe of her job, and her photography. She's super talented, and shares so honestly about her life. She lives a life I never will, so living vicariously through her work is lovely. I can't recommend following along on her journey enough!
If you're on Instagram, chances are you've heard of Sara aka. Me & Orla, or you've listened to her podcast, Hashtag Authentic. Dubbed by many as the Instagram queen, she's one of the most inspiring business women of the moment in my opinion. Her podcast is wonderful, and filled with genuinely useful information that I always feel I can apply to my business the moment an episode ends.
Jen is a creative business coach, a blogger, and a podcaster, and she's one of my favourite people ever. We bonded recently over our puppies (Jen got her pup, George, only a week after we got Milo), and chatted about the crazy lives we now lead! She writes the most inspiring, uplifting, and genuinely helpful blog posts on the internet, as well as emailing weekly letters, which are always the kick up the pants I need on a Sunday. I've said for months that if I was going to hire a coach one day, I know for a fact that it will be Jen. But even if a coach isn't what you need right now, definitely check out her website, because I can guarantee you'll find some sort of helpful resource!
Lizzie is a fellow Falmouth photographer, and now a person I totally consider one of my dearest friends. We get together every few weeks for coffee to chat life, work, creativity, and generally just vent about the struggles going on in our heads! She's so talented, and I've seen her business absolutely boom this year! I can't wait to see where 2018 takes her next. Follow Lizzie on Instagram here.
I've been such a fan of Anna for a really long time. You may remember her as "Vivianna Does MakeUp." Famous for her wonderful blog, and really engaging Youtube channels, Anna seems like one of the most genuinely lovely people on the internet, ever. Every time I watch her vlogs, I find myself smiling. She's got wonderful, laid back style, and is so relatable, I can't fault her at all. Follow her blog here , her Youtube channel here, her Instagram here.
I'd never heard of Ruby until I stumbled on her book "Material Girl, Mystical World" this year. That turned out to be one of my favourite books, and I totally devoured it! (If you're into anything a bit mystical/magical, you'll love it). Ever since, Ruby has become someone I'm totally inspired by. She's the ultimate "follow your dreams" inspiration!
Kyla is my yoga teacher, and physio. We met early on in the year during a yoga class we were both attending, and instantly clicked! Intuitively, I just knew we would be friends. I've suffered with awful back pain for a couple of years, and when I started seeing Kyla for phyiso, it felt like for the first time in my life, someone was on a mission to solve it. I've seen so much change in my back already, but also in my mindset. Kyla is one of the wisest people I've ever met, and such an inspiration. I can't rave enough about her physio practice, or her yoga classes! So if you're local to the Falmouth area and want some fixing, Kyla is your girl!
Jessica is a yoga teacher and practitioner, and someone I've truly loved following throughout 2017. She's gone through quite a lot of changes in her life, most of which she shares very openly with her huge following (500k!). That's no easy feat, but to be so vulnerable she makes the social media world a little more real, and a little less closed off every day. She's also so talented, and watching her practice her yoga is SO inspiring to me!
Carrie has got to be one of the most popular bloggers right now, and for good reason! Her content is ALWAYS stunning. She's beautiful, totally relatable, and everything she and her husband (who work together to produce most of her content) create is beyond amazing. Particularly amazing are her Instagram Stories videos, which are given so much time and care. They're essentially vlogs, but shorter, and far more beautiful. Follow her to be truly inspired!
You'll probably recognise Ione's name as being the make up artist and hair stylist I work with on pretty much every single one of my photoshoots! Ione's business has boomed this year, and I can see her honing in on exactly what it is she wants from both life and business, and it's totally inspiring! Ione lived her dream of taking a month off to travel to Bali this year, and I'm so proud of her. Her hair styling skills are unlike anything I've ever seen before, and I can't wait to see where 2018 takes her next.
Kyle is a fashion photographer based in London, and although I've still not met him in person, we've known each other for quite a long time. Kyle is super talented, and I can remember a few years ago chatting to him on the phone whilst planning content for Atlas. He had a vision, and that was working with bloggers and influencers. He was WAY ahead of the curve with this ambition, and in the past year he's truly taken off. He was right about his hunch, and its paid off, as he now works with pretty much all the biggest bloggers and vloggers of the UK. It's been wonderful watching him flourish, and I can't wait to watch what's next!
Who has inspired you this year? I'd love to hear about them, and maybe they'll be on my 2018 list!
