Pushing Myself Outside Of My Comfort Zone
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have caught my InstaStory last Tuesday all about getting inspired, how I did it, why, and what the results were. If you didn't... follow me on Instagram @oliviabossert to make sure you don't miss the next ones ;)
After a busy but lovely bank holiday, I got to work on Tuesday and felt a need to infuse some creativity into my day. I went to Pinterest, created a moodboard (see bellow), set it as my desktop, and got to work on creating something for that day. I've decided that I'd like to make this a weekly project, if I can, where I create a moodboard on a Monday morning (this was a Tuesday... cause #bankholiday!) and create something, anything, even if its really small, based on the moodboard of that week.
There were many ideas in my head based on this moodboard, and I could probably spend days creating just from looking at this, but alas, life is busy and I've only had time (so far) to work on one project - the one you see here.
Clearly I was being inspired by flowers, so I headed to my local shop to buy (very overpriced) bouquets and after quite a lot of trial and error, I began to create something I was pleased with! Still life photography is something I'm extremely drawn to, and have been for many months, but its certainly something that is a challenge. It doesn't come naturally to me at all (people are my happy place!) so it's quite easy for me to get frustrated and want to just put everything away and give up.. however, I didn't. I stuck with it, and probably spent about two hours playing with the layout of the flowers, vases, and tables until I had achieved something I was happy with.
I've got quite a lot more I could do with this project, and I certainly think I will continue to play with it. Those dark and moody paintings on the right hand side of the moodboard are very different to the sort of work I've been creating this year, but also have so much beauty in them, I'd love to give them a go.
Who knows where these projects will take me next... but they're fun! And they're certainly teaching me new skills. I'll keep sharing what I create as time goes by :) In the mean time, I hope you like the images I did manage to create on day one!
