Looking Back | A 2016 Round Up
Wow, 2016. What a year. For some, it's been pretty tough. I'm not going to discuss politics, but the world was quite scary at times this year. However, for me, this year has been pretty incredible. I went back and reread my post about my 2016 goals this morning, and it made me smile: I have pretty much achieved everything that I set out to!
My biggest goal was to step the game up with my photography again... and I think it's pretty obvious that I did that. I did my first fashion shoot in January, and then another in March for my friend Jayne Ireland who runs Tom Lane, and from that point on, I didn't really stop shooting all year (in fact, I'm still not shooting - I've got another one booked for December 23rd!). To be able to look back and realise that I had a dream, that I took small steps towards making them a reality, and then they actually did... it's pretty amazing. I obviously have so much more to achieve, so many more dreams to fullfill, and millions of ideas floating about in my brain, but all in all, I am pretty damn proud of myself for what I've achieved this year.Aside from photography, so many other things happened. One area that became more difficult was Atlas. I've not gone into a lot of detail here about recent events concerning Atlas, but the truth is that running business is tough. I really didn't realise how hard it would be, not just to manage it all, but to keep things going. There have been changes regarding Atlas recently, the biggest of which is that we will now be a website based magazine only. Our website has been growing bigger each month, doing so well all year long, that it was a no brainer when I began to re-evaluate the future of the magazine. Sometimes its incredibly hard to change something that you've been working on for so long, or to realise that the plan you had in mind for it needed altering. But the good news is that it's not going anywhere, and it's only getting better. We're embracing the change. Let's see what 2017 brings!
But what's been the best part of this year for me? The people in my life. I've never felt more surrounded by amazing people than I did this year. I've made so many new friends thanks to work, or simply just through this blog that I started, and I really couldn't begin to tell them all how much they mean to me. The support network that I've got gets me through the days of doubt, the moments of frustration, but also is always there to celebrate the wins. You know who you are, so thank you!
I'm so excited to see what 2017 brings. If it's anything like 2016, it'll be amazing. Thank you all so much for the support, thank you for reading my blog posts, thank you to everyone who has worked with me this year, thank you to everyone who's believed in me, and thank you for letting me share what I love with you all. To sign off, here are just a few of my favourite images from this year!... Let's face it, it was hard to pick just a small number, so for once in my life, I'm spamming you with them all. Enjoy! :)
