Life Recently | What I've Been Up To
You may have noticed that it's been a week since my last blog post... oops! I try my very best to post twice a week on Mondays and Fridays, but this Monday evening, I was sitting on our sofa watching Made In Chelsea (yes, my guilty pleasure) and it hit me: I hadn't made a blog post! Well, it's safe to say that I got distracted by the festive fun.
Anyway, this week I wanted to keep things light hearted and fun. I've had a busy couple of weeks, but they've also been filled with fun, so let me give you a bit of an updated!
Christmas:
I really love this time of year so much. I used to be obsessed with Christmas when I was a child (what child isn't?!) and when I got older, I didn't feel as festive. But this year, something changed and I really immersed myself in the fun. I've been wrapping presents, and actually making them look pretty! We put our tree up on December 1st, as well as curtain lights in our window, and I guarantee you that we are the most festive house in our area. I love it!
Wreath Making with Loulabel:
My friend Lou, who runs Loulabel Floral Design, kindly asked me if I'd like to tag along to one of her wreath making classes at the Lost Gardens of Heligan in exchange for a couple of images. Of course, feeling as festive as I do, I happily agreed. If you've not had a chance to make a wreath before, there is still time! Definitely look into doing a local class if you can. There's nothing nicer than walking back to your front door and seeing the beautiful, festive wreath you made with your own hands!
New Cameras:
Last week was the week of cameras! By now, you all know how obsessed I am with cameras: old or new, I love them. But in all honesty, I haven't bought a new camera in a really long time. I got my Nikon D800 5 years ago and I've not really needed anything new since! However, I recently began to want to try some new things. First off, it's no secret that I love to shoot film, but all of my film cameras are extremely basic. I wanted a film camera which was a bit more modern (and by that I mean made after 1990). The one I decided on? The Nikon F100. Reviewed everywhere as being the best 35mm film camera you could get, I didn't hesitate (especially when I managed to get one for £80 on eBay!). I haven't had a roll of film back from it yet, but I can already tell this camera is going to go everywhere with me.
The second camera I got is completely different. With all the walks and adventures that Tom and I like to go on, it was beginning to get a bit difficult/annoying to always drag my D800 around with me. I wanted something light weight, but didn't want to compromise on quality. After quite a lot of research, I decided on the Olympus PEN-F. These images you see here were all shot with it, and I think you'll agree that it is pretty incredible! Not only that, it weighs nothing! Woohoo!
The part I'm most excited about though? Vlogging! That's right, I want to start making more videos. It's one of my biggest goals for 2017. So watch this space ;)
Walks With Friends:
Probably what I've loved most recently though is the walks I've been on with friends. I'm so happy that despite it being cold and rather wintery, we're still making a point of getting outside. Part of the reason for all these walks is because normally people like to catch up over lunch. I love that too, but with all my dietary requirements, it makes eating out extremely hard. So why not save my stomach, save some money, and do some exercise while we catch up? Oh, and it gives me a chance to play with my cameras!
So that's it really, it's been a busy, but really lovely few weeks. I'm getting ready to head back to Switzerland on Monday for two weeks of relaxing with my family, and I really can't wait. Have a lovely weekend!
