How I Booked a Photoshoot in Ibiza
I'm back in the UK after 8 days in Ibiza. 6 of those days were spent shooting back to back, and it was the best experience ever, but also one of the most exhausting. I got back yesterday, and I'm trying to take it easy. Thank goodness its a bank holiday weekend - I feel like I need the excuse to really rest!
I wanted to chat about how I booked this shoot (which was for a popular women's magazine based in the UK).
You know by now that pitching is the form of marketing that I encourage all fashion photographers to do more than anything. Well, I practice what I preach, and I booked this specific job after sending out one of my quarterly newsletters to my database of contacts.
I'd just had a shoot for "You Magazine" come out, so put a newsletter together (you can read more about my newsletters here!), and sent it off. This newsletter goes out to thousands of contacts, and it can be really hit and miss… but I get a decent open rate each time, and usually a couple of replies.
One of the replies that I got this time was from this magazine, which ended up booking me for the job in Ibiza.
If I hadn't sent that email, and shared my new work, I probably would never have come onto their radar, and never booked the job.
I can't share any of what we shot with you yet, but once it's out, I'll make sure that you can see it!
