32 Reasons Why I Love Being A Fashion Photographer
I'm going to write a list of all the reasons that I LOVE being a fashion photographer, and I hope it can bring a bit of joy into your day, and make you feel excited and grateful to be on this journey, and have this amazing career.
I get to be creative every day. It's literally my job to come up with cool ideas.
Meeting inspiring people.
Taking visions that I have in my head, and making them a reality (something I could never do with a paintbrush!!)
Getting to travel to amazing locations.
Always being excited by pretty light (even though everyone else looks at me like I'm mad).
Having a reason to go look at art exhibitions and to be able to call it work.
Allowing myself to tap into my slightly geeky tech side with cameras and gear.
Making money by taking pictures. That's the coolest feeling ever.
Seeing the face of the people I shoot for light up when they see their images.
Working from home!
Having an excuse to go out and explore on days when it's sunny and I don't want to be indoors. It's location scouting, okay?!
Getting inspired by the work of my colleagues, and all of you guys, who literally blow me away and make me want to shoot every single day.
Shooting on film, and having the anticipation of waiting to get my scans back and then getting SO excited when they do come through.
Being able to answer "I'm a fashion photographer" when people ask me what I do, and have them pretty much always go: "thats a cool job!"
Retouching skills... I mean its pretty cool that I know how to remove spots off faces if I need to, lol.
Sharing work online with friends, family and everyone else who I've never met and getting responses that my work makes people feel inspired.
Making the best friends ever through the make up artists, hair stylists, fashion stylists and assistants I work with.
Getting to work with your friends as a team.
Feeling a sense of accomplishment whenever a shoot is done.
Seeing photos I've taken in magazines.
Seeing photos I've taken in shops.
Seeing photos I've taken on brands' Instagram pages / websites / newsletters. I did that!!!
Playing with pretty dresses - my childhood dream come true.
Running a business, and all of the challenges that come with it. There are days I hate it, but most of the time, the challenge fills me with excitement.
Getting emails from brands that want to work with me.
Going to meetings and sharing my portfolio with people I admire.
Feeling myself progress and learn something new.
Always having something new that I can learn, because no matter how long you've been shooting for, there's always something else you don't already know.
The flexibility this career gives me in my every day life.
Being kept on my toes and learning to get better at dealing with last minute changes - not my natural inclination, but something I'm grateful to be better at as each day passes.
Being able to have a dog, who literally makes me the happiest girl in the world.
The endless possibilities that this job brings.
