Embodying: How to Use Seasons Theory to Transform Your Photography Career
Unlocking the Power of Seasons Theory: How to Live Your Best Life Right Now
Hey there! Olivia Bossert here, and today I want to share something that completely changed the way I approach my life and goals—Seasons Theory. I stumbled upon it about a year ago on TikTok, and since then, it’s become a game-changer for me. If you’re looking to make intentional shifts in your life and start living as the main character of your own story, then you’re in the right place.
In this blog post, I’m going to walk you through what Seasons Theory is, how it can change your life, and most importantly, how you can start applying it today.
What is Seasons Theory?
Seasons Theory is a mindset shift that has you living your life like you’re the lead character in your own TV show. I know, it sounds fun, right? But it’s more than just a cool idea; it’s a way of thinking that helps you get crystal clear on what you want from your life.
The basic concept is this: You envision your life as a story, and you’re the protagonist. The key is to step into that role fully, creating your own plot and visualizing what you want to experience. This isn’t about waiting for things to happen to you; it’s about making intentional choices and embodying the version of yourself who is already living your dream life.
It’s a powerful form of embodiment—basically thinking, “What would the best version of me do right now?”
Why Seasons Theory Works
So, why does Seasons Theory work so well? Well, most of us tend to flounder around, not really sure what we want or how to get there. I know I did. I was constantly feeling like I was just going through the motions, unsure of what steps to take.
By implementing Seasons Theory, I got clear on the version of myself I wanted to be, and more importantly, how I could start stepping into that version right now—before I even reached the goals. This isn't just about “manifesting” your dreams; it’s about taking consistent action toward the life you want.
How to Apply Seasons Theory in Your Life
If you’re ready to start living your life as the star of your own TV show, here’s how you can begin:
Step 1: Write Your Script
First things first—grab a pen and paper. I know, it sounds old-school, but this part is crucial. Think about the next three months of your life and write it out as if you're scripting your own TV show. You’re the lead character, so what does your plot look like? What are the big moments you want to experience? And don’t forget the small details!
How do you dress every day?
What’s your skin and makeup routine?
What’s your hair like?
What kind of lifestyle are you living?
I started by asking myself: If I were living my dream life, how would I show up every day?
Step 2: Define Your Daily Life
Once you’ve got the big picture, get into the nitty-gritty. What does your daily routine look like as the main character of your life? Do you get up early? What kind of work are you doing? How are you spending your spare time?
For me, I realized that the successful version of myself was someone who took care of herself—putting on makeup, doing my hair, and dressing in a way that made me feel confident and ready for action.
Step 3: Start Embodying Your Future Self
Here’s the key: Start now. It’s easy to think that you need to wait until everything falls into place, but Seasons Theoryteaches you to take small steps toward your ideal life right now.
For example, I used to skip doing my hair and makeup because I thought it didn’t matter. But I realized that the version of me who was successful took time each day to dress with intention and care. So I started doing that, and it completely boosted my confidence and mindset.
Step 4: Visualize with a Mood Board
Now that you’ve got your script written and your actions mapped out, it’s time to bring it to life visually. Creating a mood board is one of my favorite parts of this process. I make a new one every three months to reflect the goals and vibe I want to embody.
You can easily create a mood board on Pinterest or use AI tools like MidJourney to generate images that reflect your vision. Seeing this visual representation of your life reminds you of the person you’re becoming and keeps you motivated.
Step 5: Live Your Script
The most important part of Seasons Theory is to live the life you’re scripting for yourself. It’s not enough to write it down and hope it happens; you need to take action.
Ask yourself: “What actions do I need to take today to become the version of me who is already living my dream life?” Start doing those things, no matter how small they seem.
For example: If you want to be a successful photographer, the version of you who’s working with top brands is already shooting regularly, networking, and creating. So, start doing that!
Overcoming Doubt and Staying on Track
When self-doubt creeps in (and it will), look at your mood board. Remind yourself of your vision and why you’re doing all this work. The future version of you is living that dream, and you’re taking the steps to get there.
I’ve been using this method for years—not exactly in this form, but the idea of embodying my best self has been a cornerstone of my journey. And trust me, it works. If you stay consistent and keep checking in with your goals, you’ll start seeing results. You’ll become the person you’ve always wanted to be.
