Wet and Wonderful Winter Wedding Inspiration at Tregothnan Estate
Don't you love a bit of alliteration? I do!
Who says that rain can’t be beautiful? Rain can be inevitable on your wedding day, and when we were faced with not just rain, but weather warnings for our styled shoot at Tregothnan Estate, we all took a second to think about whether we should go ahead with it. Wouldn’t it be a waste? Well, we very quickly reconsidered, and all realised that while we couldn’t control the weather, we could work with it. All the vendors from this shoot banded together in a way I’ve never seen before! We trudged through the mud carrying tables, chairs and cakes. We all got wet. We all got cold. But we all laughed as well. We smiled and giggled at how crazy we were to be doing what we were doing! But we loved every second of it, and I truly believed that shows in the images.
Tregothnan has the largest private botanical garden in the UK and is the home of British tea, with over 150 acres of tea plantations nestled on the banks on this ancient Estate, dating back to 1334. Generations have lived and worked on these lands; producing everything from charcoals, and tea, to flowers, honey and Kea Plums. One thing’s for sure, this grand estate has no intention slowing down. The focus for this shoot was to showcase the amazing gardens (still beautiful, despite the torrential rain and wind!), and the flowers grown on the estate. All the flowers you see from the shoot were grown within the gardens of the estate, so they showcase the change of the seasons. Tregothnan say they are extremely proud to support the British flower growing industry, which forms less than 5% of the flowers actually bought in the UK (Crazy!).
I felt so honoured to be able to be producing images in such historic and prestigious gardens. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be asked to work in such a wonderful place. It also very much proved to me that a Cornish wedding, despite the risk of wet weather, shouldn't ever be overlooked. Yes the weather was awful, but we all worked hard, I learnt that even pushed to my limits, I'm still able to operate a camera (just about!) and we had the best time.
To add the crazy, I decided to vlog the entire day, so you can admire the beautiful photos, but also take a look behind the scenes and see JUST how crazy (and wet) we actually were.
A huge thank you to everyone involved, I really can't begin to explain how great a day it was!
