Skiing in Switzerland
Oh holidays, how wonderful you are! You leave me feeling relaxed, rejuvinated, inspired and rearing to go again. I go on and on about the importance of rest, but this year I've really been trying hard to practice what I preach, and I've noticed the difference.
I knew this holiday was coming for months. Tom and I booked our flights 8 months before we would take off, and that meant that I had a LOT of time to get everything ready for departure. Self employment is honestly the best, but it does mean that every time you go on holiday, the business needs to carry on ticking along in the background! So what does that mean? A heck of a lot of planning in advance. But you know what, it's all worth it in the end?
You've probably noticed by now, that in the last few months I have begun to make more and more video content. It's something I still have a heck of a lot to learn about, but I'm learning along the way, and loving it! The main thing I've been enjoying about it though? How amazing video is at preserving memories! This sounds so obvious, because of course it does that, but there's something video can do that photographs just can't - they capture a lot of the emotion of a day. They're a portal back in time in a far more sensory way, and almost selfishly, I'm now finding myself wanting to record as much of my life as possible, just to have it there as a sort of "time capsule." I love the idea that one day, I'll be able to show my grandchildren what my life looked like, and that they will really, truly be able to experience it - far more than in just a photograph.
So here is my very first "travel vlog!" It's not perfect, by any means, but it makes me smile, it captures a lot of the emotions, the fun, and the time away, and I love that we'll now be able to look back at this for years to come, and remember our holiday so vividly.
So tell me, do you ever film any of your life? Even if you don't share it online like I do, I think you should! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this topic :)
In the mean time, I hope you enjoy the vlog, and of course, a few of the snap shots of the week (I'm always going to be a photographer, first and foremost, of course!).
