8 Podcasts For Creative Business Owners
It's been quite a while since I shared with you my favourite podcasts, so to kick off this Monday morning, what better than a post dedicated to just that!
Podcasts have become a huge part of my life in the past few years. I began listening to them while I was still working at office jobs, as a way to pass time, and learn how to create my dream life, whilst still earning money. I can definitely say that Podcasts have taught me a heck of a lot when it comes to business, and work life balance. I listen to them now just as much, only now it's while I walk Milo, while I edit, while I cook, or while I clean.
If you haven't already listened to podcasts, there's something out there for everyone! This post will focus on mainly business / entrepreneur podcasts, because these are the ones that I spend most of my time listening to. If these topics aren't of interest to you, I encourage you to search the Podcast app on your phones for all the various niches that do interest you.
1. At Home With... by Lily Pebbles and Anna Newton.
These two girls are two of my favourite bloggers/vloggers, so when they released their podcast a couple of months ago, I was thrilled! Lily and Anna head to the home of 10 people they admire, who are in various industries, and interview them. Interviews feature Zoe Sugg, Liz Earle, Madeleine Shaw, and Jo Elvin, just to name a few. They're great interviews to listen to, super interesting, and the fact that Lily and Anna are such close friends makes it even more lovely to listen to. I can't wait for season two... whenever that may be!
2. Creative Pep Talk by Andy J Miller
If you're a creative person, you need to listen to this podcast! The title is pretty self explanatory, but essentially the host, Andy, chats all things art, creativity, marketing, making your art your job, whilst encouraging you all along the way. He's incredibly inspiring, and all I can say that whenever I listen to any of his episodes, I always feel rearing to go. I highly recommend his Marketing series... super valuable!
3. Ctrl Alt Delete by Emma Gannon
This has to be one of the most popular podcasts at the moment, and for good reason. Emma Gannon interviews people about all things tech, the online world, and career. She is an incredibly business woman, speaker, writer, blogger, all around amazing lady. I actually was one of her very first listeners, as I've been reading Emma's blog for quite a few years, and remember downloading her first episode. Seeing the show explode ever since has been such fun to watch, and you can literally hear Emma's excitement. Guests include Tavi Gevinson, Seth Godin, Cheryl Strayed and Elizabeth Gilbert. The list could go on and on though! Definitely give this one a listen.
4. Hashtag Authentic by Sara Tasker
Sara Tasker, a.k.a. Me_and_Orla on Instagram is pretty much known as the "Instagram Queen." She started "Hashtag Authentic" in 2017, and interviews people all around the world about Instagram, online business, and life in general. I adore each and every one of her episodes (I've listened to them all in full, which is quite unusual for me - I tend to pick and choose). If you're interested in social media, growing your business with the use of the internet and Instagram in particular, you really must listen to this podcast!
5. How To Curate Your Life by Lizzie Evans
How To Curate Your Life has a very self explanatory title, but I love this podcast so much! I'm very passionate about work life balance, and clearly so is Lizzie as she's dedicated an entire podcast to that very topic. Lizzie interviews business owners about how they made it to where they are today, the hurdles they've overcome, but most importantly, how they keep that all needed balance in their lives.
6. In Good Company by Otegha Uwagba
Otegha Uwagba is the author of "Little Black Book - A Toolkit For Working Women" which rose to fame in 2017 as THE book all career women needed in their lives. I'll admit I've yet to read it, but when I saw that she released a podcast of her own, "In Good Company" I had to give it a listen. There are only 3 episodes so far but I absolutely loved Otegha's interview of Serena Green, the founder of Suitcase Magazine, one of my favourites.
7. Make It Happen by Jen Carrington
I love Jen Carrington more than I should probably express here. Her blog is my go to when I need to get out of a funk, or just want to get inspired. She is an incredibly creative business coach (who I will definitely one day be hiring for myself!), writer, blogger, and podcaster as well! Make It Happen has been running for a few years, and I encourage you to go right back to the start and listen to Jen's interviews with creative business owners, as there is so much knowledge to be learnt. In more recent years, Jen decided to record mini solo shows, which are just as powerful. I love that there is quite a lot of variation in this podcast, and there really is something for everyone. This is probably my favourite one!
8. What She Said by Lucy Lucraft
I discovered the "What She Said" podcast whilst randomly browsing Itunes for new shows to listen to a few weeks ago, and I literally spent all week binge listening to Lucy's show! There are so many interviews in this show of different creative business owners, and there really is a lot of information in these that you can begin to apply to your business right away. Super inspiring, and you'll discover a bunch of amazing creative people to follow!
So there you have it, 8 of my favourite podcasts of creative business owners. I hope you find these are inspiring as I do!
Can you recommend any podcasts to me? I'm always looking for new ones to add to my list!
